How does mobiletide work?Tides are caused mainly by the moon's gravitational pull on the ocean. By being synchronised to the moon's daily cycle mobiletide will align itself to the current state of tide at just about any coastal location of your choice. Everything mobiletide needs to work out the tide is stored onto your phone when you first download the application so there's no need for constant internet charges or hidden fees.Who should I contact to WAP enable my phone?The easiest is to call the customer service department of the network provider and get them to send you the configuration as a text message. On average across a Lunar day (month) this is how much the tide moves on by each day. Working to an average tidal progression means that mobiletide will remain accurate over a longer period of time, so in 5 days, 5 months or 5 years mobiletide will still be showing the correct tide. It does mean that throughout a month mobiletide will fluctuate in and out, however it will remain within 0-30mins for the majority of the time. There are other influences on sea levels that affect exact tide times and these should be taken into account: Strong on / off shore windsChanging volume of river flows Atmospheric pressure Please note that due to the variable nature of tides mobiletide is only intended as a guide to tide times and therefore should not be used for navigational purposes. Will my phone be able to download mobiletide?A general rule of thumb is that if your phone has a colour screen and is under 3 years old then mobiletide should be compatible. Although in principle most modern phones will run mobiletide ashortwalk can only guarantee those listed on the ‘compatibility’ page and the purchaser must accept this risk. If your phone is compatible it still needs it to be WAP enabled, have enough storage/processing memory and have good reception for the actual download to work. You simply have to enter the exact high tide time on the day of any full moon. Because mobiletide is set to each individual country it will only display the correct tide once your phone re-adjusts itself to the local time. Its very simple: select a location, either one you have saved yourself or from a pre installed global list, the current state of tide is then graphically displayed.
